Caffeine drinks: espresso coffee

A good caffeinated drink is the perfect espresso, which has a perfect amount of caffeine. No matter what you do, you can serve it with ice, with or without hot milk foam, flavored or chocolate, hot or cold, iced or shaken, but the finished drink will never exceed the original quality of espresso. No addition of milk, syrups or spices will improve it, so make sure you use the best quality Arabica beans.

Coffee is perishable and it is therefore important to buy only the amount necessary for a week otherwise its qualities and the effects of caffeine could be lost. Store the beans in an airtight container, away from heat, light and moisture, but not in the freezer or refrigerator, as this will alter the aroma. Only grind the beans before use.

The espresso is viscous. When the pump is activated, it should flow like warm honey falling from a spoon. The passage of water in the filter during the preparation of the espresso creates a dense golden or reddish cream that settles on the small amount of liquid. Typically, an espresso corresponds to about 30 ml of coffee, prepared and served directly in a cup preheated on a saucer, with a teaspoon and accompanied by a glass of water. Often with espresso is served carbonated water so the customer can purify the palate from residual flavors and appreciate the taste of coffee without any interference. It is par excellence the best among caffeine drinks. If you want to know more about how much caffeine a coffee has, a cappuccino, a coke, read our dedicated article. This method is very common in Japan, where coffee consumers are known for their tasting skills. The cream or golden foam on the coffee is the first indicator of quality. The flavor should be balanced, caramelized and sweet, with spicy notes. It should persist in the mouth for about an hour. Coffee should look good, smell good and taste good. Only if the coffee has an excellent aroma allows its drinker to enjoy an excellent coffee break.

Caffeine drinks: Cappuccino

Cappuccino is an espresso with equal parts of steamed milk and foam, served in a round ceramic cup with a capacity of about 150 ml. Being composed of an espresso, the caffeine in the Cappuccino is the same as the espresso, or 63mg. Rich and creamy, it hides the aroma of espresso under a white layer of milk foam. It is said that it was invented when an Italian monk added hot milk to his coffee. The name was chosen in honor of the monks’ white caps and today has a small amount of foam. This is another of the most popular caffeine drinks.

Just as a barman develops his own personal style for the preparation of cocktails, the bartender can also add his own touch of elegance: pouring the whipped milk with a jug with spout, he can create decorations in the shape of a rose, heart or sapling on the coffee.

There is a lot of discussion about what the real cappuccino is and what is the exact amount of milk foam compared to the steamed heated milk that must be contained in the cappuccino. Although an ingredient remains constant, since the basis of any caffeine drink such as a good cappuccino is espresso, every other element seems to be variable and there are interesting local specialties. Often milk foam is confused with warm milk, but it is essential that you, as a bartender, concentrate on the preparation of the drink that is ordered.
